Kannauj schools closed due to heavy rainfall alert

Due to forecasts of continuous and heavy rainfall, the district administration in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, has declared a holiday for all government and private schools up to class 8 on September 26.

Local authorities, including the District Magistrate and Basic Education Officer Sandeep Kumar, have issued orders to ensure safety amid weather warnings. The administration has also placed revenue department teams on alert to monitor potential damage to lives, livestock, property, and crops.

The weather warning follows a stormy situation in the Bay of Bengal affecting Uttar Pradesh. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in several districts, leading to school closures in areas including Lucknow, Kanpur, Mirzapur, and Gonda.
