Kano building collapse leads to 16 rescues

Sixteen people were rescued following the collapse of a residential building in the Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi area of Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State. The incident occurred at approximately 4:32 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

The Kano State Fire Service reported that 13 victims were rescued alive, including six children. Three other children were recovered unconscious. All victims were handed over to a relative of their father for medical attention.

The collapsed structure measured approximately 20 by 30 feet. The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation. The Fire Service has urged residents to take necessary safety precautions, especially during the rainy season, to prevent similar occurrences.
