Kaohsiung mayoral race: Lu Shiow-yen rallies for KMT candidate Ko Chih-en

As the Kaohsiung mayoral election approaches, Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Ko Chih-en held a campaign rally in Gangshan. Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen attended to support Ko, stating that she sees her younger self in Ko. Lu emphasized that Ko’s previous political defeat will lead to a greater appreciation for the role, drawing a comparison to Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai, who also became more hardworking after a prior setback.

Lu highlighted Ko’s dedication to the city over the past four years, noting her efforts in researching urban development and writing policy white papers. She characterized Ko as a candidate with deep empathy due to her background in a working-class family.

In response to the campaign momentum, independent candidate for Zuoying and Nanzi District Councilor Hsueh Chao-chi remarked on the importance of moving beyond campaign slogans. Comparing his ‘N+1’ concept to Ko’s ‘En+1’ slogan, Hsueh argued that political figures must translate mobilization efforts into actionable governance, specific policy solutions, and measurable results for the citizens of Kaohsiung.
