Kaohsiung prosecutor investigates village chief candidate for bribery
The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office has launched an investigation into a village chief candidate in the Gushan District for alleged election bribery and violations of the Political Donations Act.
Investigators found that between March and September of this year, the candidate, identified by the surname Zhu, allegedly distributed jewelry including jade rings, jade pendants, and Buddhist beads to voters to secure election support. Additionally, the candidate is accused of failing to establish a legal political donation account, instead using a personal post office account to collect funds.
Zhu has been released on 100,000 TWD bail pending further summons. The prosecutors emphasized their commitment to strictly handling election interference as local elections approach.
