Kapsch TrafficCom launches satellite‑based toll system in the Netherlands

Kapsch TrafficCom has put its satellite‑based Geo Location Platform (GLP) into operation in the Netherlands as of 1 July, extending the system that already covers Belgium and Bulgaria. The platform processes real‑time location data from smartphones, connected vehicles and on‑board units, matches it to a digital road map and calculates tolls, currently supporting CO₂‑based charges and being ready for future noise and air‑pollution fees. The Dutch rollout covers roughly 14 000 km of combined road network with Belgium, demonstrating that the solution can operate across multiple national toll regimes while respecting local tariffs. Earlier deployments in Belgium and Bulgaria and a planned launch in Lithuania show the company’s cross‑border expansion strategy. "The expansion into the Netherlands is an important step for us.
