Bursa hosts Perseid meteor shower event for 25,000 people

More than 25,000 nature enthusiasts and astronomy fans gathered at Yeniköy Beach in the Karacabey district of Bursa, Turkey, for the 6th Perseid Meteor Shower Observation Event. Organized by the Cemre Foundation with support from the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Karacabey Municipality, the event was one of Turkey's largest sky observation gatherings.

Beyond meteor watching, the event focused on environmental awareness. The program included workshops, documentaries, and presentations on topics such as climate change, zero waste, and the upcoming COP31. Experts, academics, and nature photographers shared insights throughout the day.

To facilitate optimal observation and reduce light pollution, local lights in the area were turned off at midnight. This allowed participants to view the meteor shower clearly with the naked eye, telescopes, and cameras. Attendees stayed in the region using tents and caravans to experience the celestial event.
