Karachi police and Rangers arrest five human smugglers

A joint operation by the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and District West Police in Surjani, Karachi, has resulted in the arrest of five members of an inter-provincial human smuggling gang. The suspects, identified as Abdul Aziz Brohi, Muhammad Bakhsh Dashti, Ali Hassan Brohi, Nadeem Brohi, and Jamil Brohi, were apprehended while transporting two illegal Afghan nationals, Yar Muhammad and Rasul Khan, to Karachi.

Investigations revealed that the gang charged approximately 200,000 PKR per family for smuggling services. Over the past month, the group reportedly moved roughly 230 illegal Afghan nationals to various areas in Karachi using small vehicles and motorcycles. To evade security forces, the smugglers utilized clandestine routes through areas such as Manghopir, Band Murad, Surjani, and the Northern Bypass.

The suspects also provided temporary accommodation for illegal immigrants in hotels and houses in Hub. Authorities seized weapons, narcotics, and a Suzuki loader vehicle used for smuggling during the operation. Additionally, reports indicate that a similar group was involved in transporting suspects linked to recent terrorist attacks from Balochistan to Karachi via secret routes. Raids are ongoing to apprehend remaining accomplices.
