Human smuggling operations in Karachi
Overview
Authorities in Karachi conducted a joint operation involving the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and District West Police in Surjani, resulting in the arrest of five members of an inter-provincial human smuggling gang.
The suspects were apprehended while transporting two illegal Afghan nationals. Investigations indicated the gang charged approximately 200,000 PKR per family and had moved roughly 230 illegal Afghan nationals to various areas in Karachi over the previous month using small vehicles and motorcycles. To evade security forces, the group utilized clandestine routes through areas including Manghopir, Band Murad, Surjani, and the Northern Bypass.
During the operation, authorities seized weapons, narcotics, and a Suzuki loader vehicle. Reports also suggest a similar group was involved in transporting individuals linked to recent terrorist attacks from Balochistan to Karachi via secret routes. Raids continue as authorities seek to apprehend remaining accomplices.
