Karachi protesters demand justice for Mir Raza 60 days after murder
Protesters and civil society members held a march on Karachi’s Sea View road to mark 60 days since the murder of businessman Mir Raza. Participants demanded the immediate arrest of the suspects, chanting slogans for justice and expressing frustration that the killers remain at large.
Mir Raza’s family, including his father Mir Hussain and sister Ali Sheba, participated in the demonstration. Mir Hussain criticized the current investigative process, noting that while a judicial commission can provide findings, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is necessary to apprehend the perpetrators. He also addressed allegations regarding his investments, stating that while he is willing to answer questions about his finances, the focus must remain on finding the murderers.
Ali Sheba announced that the family intends to file a new application for the formation of a JIT. This follows the rejection of a previous request and concerns that the police may have destroyed evidence or video footage. The family expressed deep grief, noting that despite the passage of two months, they have yet to receive justice.
