Karan Johar announces final season of Koffee With Karan

Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that the ninth season of his popular celebrity chat show, ‘Koffee With Karan’, will be its final installment. The show, which has been a staple of Indian pop culture for 22 years, is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on October 14.

Johar shared an emotional announcement on social media, reflecting on the show’s journey since its 2004 debut. He noted that the idea originated from a conversation with his late father, producer Yash Johar, shortly before his passing. Over eight seasons and 161 episodes, the program became known for its candid celebrity interviews, rapid-fire rounds, and frequent involvement in industry controversies, including discussions surrounding nepotism.

Johar stated that the decision to end the series is personal, as he intends to focus more on film direction in the coming decade. He described the final season as a way to celebrate the journey and the audience that has supported the show throughout its run. Reports suggest the upcoming season may feature guests such as Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt.
