Conclusion of Koffee With Karan talk show

Overview

Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that the ninth season of his celebrity talk show, ‘Koffee With Karan’, will be its final installment. The series, which has run for 22 years since its 2004 debut and spans eight seasons and 161 episodes, is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026.

Johar stated the decision to end the franchise is personal and emotional, as he intends to focus more on film direction over the next decade. To avoid controversy, Johar has noted that cricketers will not be invited for this final season.

The season premiered with Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor, followed by Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. The third episode features Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, with a surprise appearance by Arjun Kapoor. In promotional clips, the guests engage in playful banter with Johar. During the episode, Dhawan and Kapoor discuss a period when Johar had stopped speaking to them due to feeling “hurt,” to which Kapoor jokingly remarked that she gained weight during that time. The episode also covers Arjun Kapoor as a source of advice and Kapoor’s social media interests.

While the show has secured brand partners like Visa and Cadbury Bournville, it faces ongoing social media criticism regarding the nature of celebrity conversations and competition from rising celebrity-hosted podcasts.
