Vietnamese film ‘Án mạng karaoke’ takes top box office spot

The film ‘Án mạng karaoke’, directed by Hoàng Lê, has claimed the top position at the Vietnamese box office, ending the multi-week dominance of ‘Trại buôn người’. During the weekend of October 23-25, ‘Án mạng karaoke’ earned approximately 21.7 billion VND, nearly doubling the 11 billion VND earned by its closest competitor.

Including early screenings, the film’s total revenue has exceeded 31 billion VND. The production, which features actors such as Vân Dung, Đại Nghĩa, and Thanh Sơn, is a detective comedy centered on a group of neighbors at a mountain retreat who become suspects after a karaoke enthusiast is murdered. While the film has seen a strong start due to a high number of screenings, its official release is scheduled for October 30.

Despite the shift in leadership, ‘Trại buôn người’, directed by Toni Dương Bảo Anh, remains a significant commercial success. The film has earned over 484 billion VND, surpassing the records of Lý Hải’s ‘Lật mặt 7: Một điều ước’ and ranking among the highest-grossing Vietnamese films of all time.
