Karatay and Mersin districts continue intensive pesticide spraying to curb pests

Municipal teams in Karatay district are carrying out round‑the‑clock pesticide spraying across parks, green spaces, streets, schools and mosque courtyards to reduce flies, mosquitoes and other pests during the summer months. Residents are warned to keep doors and windows closed and to take precautions if they have health conditions.

In Mersin province, the Environment Protection and Control Directorate is conducting continuous spraying in 13 districts, covering 180 neighbourhoods (56 central and 124 rural). The operations target mosquitoes, black flies, rats, cockroaches and similar vectors in watercourses, sewers, ponds, waste containers, basements and green areas. Officials urge citizens, especially livestock owners, to store animal waste away from living spaces and avoid standing water.

Both campaigns aim to protect public health by limiting pest‑related nuisance and disease risks during the hot season.
