Antalya battles 10‑meter snow on mountain roads as coastal temps hit 35 °C

The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has been clearing high‑altitude mountain roads in the Gündoğmuş district throughout June, where snow depths of 8–10 metres have been recorded. Teams have opened a 60‑kilometre stretch of the 2,600‑metre Karabul‑Susambeli route and plan to clear an additional 10‑kilometre section after a week of work.

At the same time, the city centre and Konyaaltı beach are experiencing summer heat, with daytime temperatures reaching 33‑35 °C and sea water at about 27 °C. Tourists and locals crowd the beach, and some engage in paragliding over the coastline. Residents praised the municipal crews, noting that the road openings are vital for mountain‑area farmers, beekeepers and livestock owners.

Local officials highlighted the contrast of “winter on the high plateau and summer on the coast” and said the work will continue to keep both mountain routes and seaside attractions safe and accessible.
