Karen Khachanov reaches US Open semifinals
Karen Khachanov has reached the US Open semifinals for the second time, matching his career-best Grand Slam performance. The world No. 50 advanced to the final four after Alexander Blockx was forced to withdraw from their quarterfinal match due to medical issues involving his leg, back, and ribs. Khachanov, who was leading 6-2, 7-5, 3-2 at the time of the retirement, will face top seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals on Friday.
Khachanov’s run in New York follows a difficult period where he entered the tournament on a four-match losing streak. His success has been supported by his coaching team, which includes Vedran Martic and Evgeny Donskoy, as well as his wife, Veronika Shkliaeva. Zverev has noted that Khachanov is often referred to by the nickname ‘The Professor’.
