Karim Benzema leaves Al-Hilal as free agent

Karim Benzema has terminated his contract with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, becoming a free agent after only six months with the team. The former Ballon d'Or winner reportedly sought a departure because he did not fit into the tactical plans of coach Simone Inzaghi.

Following Benzema's exit, Al-Hilal has moved to secure a replacement. The club has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins. While Aston Villa has been reluctant to sell, Al-Hilal previously explored options involving Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen before prioritizing Watkins.

Benzema is now a free agent, drawing interest from Saudi club Al Shabab and potentially clubs in the English Premier League and Turkey. Although the primary transfer window has closed, Premier League clubs maintain the ability to sign free agents.
