Karina Milei hosts Argentine legislators' dinner, sparks cabinet succession rumors

Karina Milei, secretary general of the Argentine Presidency, organized a dinner with the La Libertad Avanza bloc in Villa Urquiza. Attendees included the president of the Chamber of Deputies Martín Menem, block leader Gabriel Bornoroni, Buenos Aires party chief Sebastián Pareja and Minister of Human Capital Sandra Pettovello. The meeting was presented as a social gathering but was used to reinforce internal cohesion and promote the re‑election strategy for President Javier Milei ahead of the 2027 elections.

Pettovello’s presence intensified speculation about a possible replacement for Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni. A recently issued decree lists the minister of Human Capital as the first successor to the cabinet chief, and she has been mentioned repeatedly as a candidate. Both Pettovello and government spokespeople denied any ambition for the post, describing the dinner as a chance for legislators and ministers to get acquainted. Senate leader Patricia Bullrich reiterated her support for President Milei and dismissed personal presidential aspirations, while emphasizing the bloc’s unity.
