Karlovy Vary International Film Festival launches 60th edition with new Central Stage and Book‑to‑Screen programs
The 60th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival runs from 3 to 11 July 2026, marking the festival’s 80th anniversary. The official competition will showcase nearly forty films, including first‑time entries from Myanmar and Colombia and a mix of Czech co‑productions such as Šimon Holý’s *Chica Checa* and Miro Remo’s *Better Go Mad in the Wild*.
The festival’s industry strand KVIFF Promises presents a new Central Stage showcase, featuring eleven projects from Central and Eastern Europe seeking co‑production, financing and distribution, with a €20,000 Eurimages Development Award on offer. In parallel, the inaugural Book‑to‑Screen programme, created with the Frankfurt Book Fair and the PPF Foundation, highlights eight recent titles from the region for potential film adaptation, accompanied by a producers’ think‑tank.
