Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Sets Coffee Mug World Record Display in Oberhausen

The new leisure park Karls Erlebnis‑Dorf opened at the Centro Oberhausen on 22 July 2026. More than 18,000 empty coffee mugs have been placed in the 6,000‑square‑metre main hall, stacked in rows that reach up to the roof.

Managing director Robert Dahl says the display is intended to defend the world record for the greatest number of coffee mugs displayed. The mugs were sourced from collectors across Germany after the park previously held a record of 14,000 mugs in Rostock in 2009. All mugs are decorative; none are intended for use by visitors.
