Karnataka BJP accuses Congress government of failing to release drought relief
Karnataka BJP Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka has accused the state's Congress government of being anti-farmer, alleging a failure to distribute a promised Rs 2,500 one-time input subsidy for drought relief. Ashoka stated that despite the announcement made during a special legislative session over a month ago, the funds have not been transferred to farmers' bank accounts.
In addition to the drought relief delay, Ashoka alleged that the government has failed to pay the state's share of premiums under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He claimed this inaction prevents farmers from receiving necessary insurance compensation. The opposition leader further noted reports of dissatisfaction within the government, specifically citing Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara's reported concerns regarding the Finance Department's handling of the funds.
