Karnataka CM launches drought relief and citizen-connect initiatives

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has launched several state initiatives to address agricultural distress and administrative transparency. To combat a rain deficit and potential drought, the government has initiated a Rs 28.52-crore cloud seeding project. Following a drought survey in Bagalkot district where crops like sunflower and chilli suffered extensive damage, Shivakumar announced plans to lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi to request a farm loan waiver and central drought relief.

On the administrative front, the Chief Minister launched ‘Prajaseva Abhiyana’, a citizen-connect campaign designed to bring government services to people's doorsteps and resolve grievances through a digital, paperless system. He also addressed the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment controversy, stating that a thorough investigation must precede any political conclusions.

In education, the state is working on reforms, including a proposal to provide 7.5 per cent reservation for students from rural government schools and granting the professional title ‘Tr.’ to school teachers.
