Karnataka CM orders probe into police blocking Dalit ministers at Mysuru Dasara

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has ordered an inquiry into an incident during the Mysuru Dasara celebrations where police officers allegedly prevented three Dalit ministers from entering the Nandi Dhwaja puja venue at the Mysuru Palace.

Ministers Shivaraj Tangadagi, PM Narendraswamy, and KS Basavanteppa were reportedly blocked by police personnel during the Jamboo Savari procession on October 21. While video footage shows the confrontation, the Chief Minister intervened personally to facilitate their entry. The opposition BJP and JD(S) have alleged the ministers were targeted due to their Dalit identity.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has cautioned against attributing a caste angle to the event, stating that officials were enforcing security and protocol. Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has been directed to investigate the matter and identify those responsible for the conduct.
