Karnataka completes 77% digitisation of electoral rolls as 84 lakh voters flagged under ASDDO
The Karnataka State Election Commission reported that 77.33% of the 5.54 crore enumeration forms—about 4.28 crore—have been digitised ahead of the August 8 deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukkumar said the house‑to‑house verification continues, with 84.31 lakh voter records identified under the ASDDO categories (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate, Others).
The ASDDO breakdown includes roughly 11.6 lakh absent, 51.7 lakh permanently shifted, 15.0 lakh deceased, 5.6 lakh duplicate and 0.3 lakh other cases. While political parties, including the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, warned that up to 80 lakh voters could face deletion, the CEO clarified that names in the ASDDO bracket will not be removed without proper verification. Dead voters and duplicate entries will be deleted only after a formal process, and absent or shifted voters can have their details corrected before the cut‑off.
Officials urged residents to submit any pending enumeration forms, noting that around 43 lakh forms remain unsubmitted. The Commission emphasised that accurate voter lists are essential for free and fair elections and asked the public to cooperate with Booth Level Officers to complete the verification.
