Karnataka Deputy CM to discuss drought declaration in next cabinet meeting
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara announced that a decision regarding the declaration of drought in the state will be made following a discussion in the next cabinet meeting. The government has received ground-truthing reports from 102 taluks and is reviewing the situation weekly in accordance with Union Government parameters.
Addressing political developments, Parameshwara confirmed that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had proposed his name for the Chief Minister position to the Congress high command during Siddaramaiah's resignation. While Parameshwara acknowledged his own desire for the role, he stated he has accepted the leadership's decision to appoint D. K. Shivakumar as Chief Minister and intends to work cooperatively with the current administration.
Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister addressed speculations regarding Minister B. Nagendra's resignation, noting that his name does not appear in any chargesheets. The cabinet is expected to discuss the CBI's request for the Governor's permission to prosecute the minister.
