Karnataka news: recruitment fraud, water plant raids, and farmer support
In Karnataka, authorities have taken several significant actions across different sectors. In a major recruitment scandal, police arrested Shankar Bannur, a top scorer in the Village Administrative Officer exam, for allegedly using a mobile phone and Google Lens to cheat during the test.
In the health and safety sector, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted statewide inspections of packaged drinking water units. Following these raids, 12 units were sealed for serious violations, including lack of cleanliness, missing mandatory licenses from the FSSAI, and labeling errors. Officials collected 69 water samples for laboratory testing.
Regarding agriculture, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced measures to support farmers, including a decision to increase milk prices by 7 rupees per liter to assist those struggling with rising costs of animal feed and medicine. He also highlighted infrastructure developments, including the allocation of funds for canal modernization and the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Mandya.
