Karnataka hosts major cultural festivals in Mysuru and Bengaluru
Cultural festivities are underway across Karnataka, highlighted by the commencement of the Dasara 2026 celebrations in Mysuru and various events in Bengaluru.
In Mysuru, the 11-day Dasara festival begins with religious rituals at the Chamundeshwari Temple, inaugurated by Sri Abhinava Gavisiddheshwara Swami. The celebrations center on the Mysuru Palace and the worship of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The festivities will include inter-state cultural troupes, drone shows, and Kambala. The event is set to culminate on October 21 with the Jamboo Savari, a grand procession featuring a golden howdah, caparisoned elephants, and traditional musicians, followed by a Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru is hosting a variety of cultural performances between October 9 and 15. Scheduled events include devotional music by ChaRitha, a Carnatic jazz performance by Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth, and the solo play ‘Papa Painter’ at Ranga Shankara. Additionally, the Phoenix Festival at Phoenix Mall of Asia offers three months of entertainment, including live performances by Rajesh Krishnan and Vipul Goyal.
