IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar's homes raided by ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted extensive searches at the Bengaluru and Bareilly residences of IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar. The raids are part of an ongoing money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities within the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment process.
The investigation focuses on the recruitment of veterinary officers, where candidates were allegedly required to pay bribes ranging from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 80 lakh to secure appointments. Gangwar, a 2016-batch officer, previously served as the KPSC Controller of Examinations.
During the searches at Gangwar's Bengaluru residence, officials reportedly found limited material as the officer was not present. Reports indicated he had traveled to Uttar Pradesh due to a family medical emergency involving his father, a clarification provided by Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge. The ED has since issued a notice for Gangwar to appear at its Bengaluru office for questioning.
