Karnataka road accidents leave five dead and dozens injured
Two separate road accidents in Karnataka have resulted in five deaths and at least 30 injuries.
In the first incident near Periyapatna, a Kaveri AC sleeper bus traveling from Kozhikode, Kerala, to Bengaluru collided head-on with a truck. The collision caused severe damage to the front sections of both vehicles. Four people died in this crash, including individuals identified as Aftab, Sajesh (36), and Sunil, all residents of Mankavu; the identity of a fourth victim is still being determined. Fourteen others were injured and taken to the hospital.
In a second incident near Hubli, a private bus traveling from Mumbai to Bengaluru veered off the road and crashed into a field near Chabbi Cross. An eight-year-old girl died in the accident, and 16 others were injured. Police officials stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle, likely due to high speed. Emergency services conducted a rescue operation to free the driver, whose leg was trapped in the wreckage.
