Colombia earthquake relief: Karol G and Kali Uchis lead humanitarian efforts

Following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake on August 10 that affected 16 departments in Colombia, various artists and organizations have launched significant humanitarian relief efforts.

Singer Karol G announced a donation of approximately 1 to 1.2 million dollars through her Con Cora Foundation. The funds are specifically intended for the reconstruction of homes and infrastructure for families impacted by the disaster. Her contribution was highlighted during the 'Colombia: Voces por la Vida' charity concert in Bogotá, which raised over 11 billion Colombian pesos (roughly 3.6 million dollars) to support recovery efforts.

Additionally, singer Kali Uchis has been active in the field, delivering essential supplies and food kits to displaced families in Pereira, Risaralda.

The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) reports that the earthquake resulted in 329 deaths, 4,592 injuries, and 234 people missing. The disaster has left over 324,000 people displaced across 494 municipalities.

Government-backed relief efforts also include the 'Colombia Luz y Sonrisas' foundation, led by First Lady Ana Lucía Pineda, which serves as one of the official donation channels alongside the Corporación Minuto de Dios and the Ábaco Foundation.
