Karpowership and Seatrium partner for floating power solutions

Karpowership and Seatrium have entered into an agreement to develop floating power and digital infrastructure solutions. The collaboration includes a contract for the conversion and integration of five hydrogen-ready Whale-class floating power plants.

Seatrium will manage the comprehensive ship conversion, equipment integration, and mechanical completion for these third-generation vessels. The first ship in the series is expected to arrive at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Shipyard in Singapore in December 2027. The Whale-class vessels are designed to provide up to 600 MW of electricity and feature multi-fuel production systems and integrated transformer stations for direct grid connection.

The companies also signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the formation of a joint venture. This partnership aims to create an integrated platform for infrastructure development, financing, engineering, and operations, with potential expansion into the Southeast Asian market. Proposed solutions include power ships, floating data centers, and hybrid or floating nuclear solutions.
