Kars authorities impose forest fire bans and launch village water project

Kars Forest Directorate, together with municipal, security and emergency agencies, approved the continuation of fire‑combat measures for 2026. Entry to all forested areas outside Soğuksu Nature Park is prohibited from 1 July to 31 October 2026 for anyone except authorized staff. Night access to picnic sites is banned, open fires are allowed only in designated grills, camping tents are forbidden, and fireworks or other fire‑risk materials are prohibited at nearby events.

The Kars Provincial Special Administration completed a 200‑metre deep drilling operation in Ağadeve village, providing a water source that yields about 4.5 litres per second. The new well is expected to meet the village’s drinking‑water needs and reduce shortages during the summer months.
