Kars implements beekeeping subsidies and fish restocking

Agricultural and aquatic development initiatives are underway in Kars, Turkey, to bolster local production and sustainability.

In the beekeeping sector, the Kars Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting field studies to monitor hive health and improve honey quality. For 2026, basic support payments will be provided to producers: 250 TL per hive for members of agricultural unions and 200 TL per hive for non-members. Additional incentives include a 40 percent increase for women and young producers, 30 percent for migratory beekeepers, and 20 percent for members of first-degree agricultural organizations.

Simultaneously, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s ‘Fish Stocking Project,’ 500,000 carp fingerlings were released into the Bayburt Dam in the Selim district. These fingerlings, produced at the Elazığ Keban Fisheries Production and Research Station, aim to increase fish populations and support sustainable fishing. Officials noted that these efforts are part of a continuous program to develop the region's natural water resource potential.
