Turkish agricultural and aquatic resource development

Overview

Under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s “Water Resources Stocking Project,” Turkey has implemented initiatives to enhance aquatic and agricultural resources. In Kars, 500,000 juvenile carp from the Elazığ Keban Fisheries Enterprise were released into the Bayburt Dam Lake to strengthen local fish populations and promote sustainable water use.

In addition to fish restocking, agricultural support in Kars has expanded to include beekeeping subsidies for 2026. The Kars Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is providing basic support payments per hive, with increased incentives for women, young producers, migratory beekeepers, and members of agricultural organizations. Similar fish stocking efforts were also noted in the Güneysınır district of Konya, where 50,000 juvenile fish were released into local ponds.
