Karşıyaka Municipality hosts World Architecture Day meeting

Karşıyaka Municipality hosted a meeting to commemorate World Architecture Day, bringing together architects from both the public and private sectors. Organized by the Directorate of Reconstruction and Urbanization, the event featured discussions on the multifaceted nature of the profession, which extends beyond design and construction.

Key topics included the role of architects in local government, professional legal rights, responsibilities within the public sector, and current challenges facing the industry. Experts and academics from institutions such as Dokuz Eylül University, Bakırçay University, and Ekonomi University, along with representatives from the Izmir Chamber of Architects, participated in the evaluations.

Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal emphasized that architecture shapes the present and future of cities, contributing directly to the quality of living spaces. The gathering aimed to evaluate the impact of legislation on architectural practice and share experiences regarding the future of the profession.
