Kashmir power authorities announce new load curtailment plan
The Power Development Department (PDD) and the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) are implementing new power management measures in the Kashmir division. A revised Load Curtailment Plan (LCP) will introduce varying levels of daily electricity shutdowns based on Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses in specific areas.
Under the new plan, regions with AT&C losses exceeding 60 percent will face 8 hours of daily power curtailment, while areas with losses between 40-60 percent will experience 6 hours of daily shedding. Areas with losses between 20-40 percent will face 3 hours of daily curtailment. Conversely, areas with losses below 20 percent will receive 24/7 electricity supply, with 85 new feeders recently added to this category.
Additionally, KPDCL has announced scheduled maintenance shutdowns on several 33 kV transmission lines across north and south Kashmir throughout October and early November. These maintenance-related outages, affecting various localities including Rohama, Panzipora, and Pampore, are scheduled to occur between 9 am and 3 pm on specific dates.
