Kashmir electricity supply management and maintenance
Overview
Power authorities in Kashmir, including the Power Development Department (PDD) and the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL), have implemented new electricity management measures. A revised Load Curtailment Plan (LCP) was introduced to manage daily shutdowns based on Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses. Under this plan, regions with losses exceeding 60 percent face 8 hours of daily curtailment, while those with 40-60 percent losses face 6 hours, and areas with 20-40 percent losses face 3 hours. Areas with losses below 20 percent are slated for 24/7 supply.
In addition to the curtailment plan, KPDCL announced scheduled maintenance shutdowns on various 33 kV transmission lines across north and south Kashmir. These outages, affecting localities such as Rohama, Panzipora, and Pampore, are scheduled to occur between 9 am and 3 pm through early November.
