Kashmiri diaspora protest in Bradford reaches 85 days

Members of the Kashmiri diaspora have continued a sit-in protest outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, UK, for 85 consecutive days. Despite persistent rain, demonstrators are demanding international attention regarding alleged human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Political activist Mahmood Kashmiri stated that the protesters' fundamental demand is the right to live with basic human rights. He alleged that Pakistani security forces operate with impunity and are responsible for violence against Kashmiris.

Furthermore, protesters have accused authorities of manipulating the electoral process in PoJK. They are calling for international oversight of elections, alleging that local Kashmiris are being prevented from contesting elections while political parties based in Pakistan are permitted to participate. Protesters are urging the global community to intervene so that residents can live without fear.
