Kashmiri Pandit employees advised to stay home after online threat
Kashmiri Pandit employees in the Kashmir Valley have been advised to stay home and remain vigilant following an online threat letter. The letter, circulated by a group calling itself the United Liberation Council, specifically named six employees from the Revenue Department and included their personal contact details, warning them to ‘change their ways.’
Security officials suspect the United Liberation Council may be a shadow group acting on behalf of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Police are currently investigating the authenticity of the document. While some reports indicate the Jammu and Kashmir government issued verbal instructions to departments to allow affected staff to take leave or move to safer locations, the Director of School Education, Naseer Ahmad Wani, has denied that any formal orders for remote work or leave were issued.
Employees working under the Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation Package have reportedly been advised to work from home until August 25. In response to the threat, security forces have increased surveillance and strengthened arrangements in migrant colonies across the valley.
