Terror threats against Kashmiri Pandit employees

Overview

The United Liberation Council (ULC), which intelligence sources identify as a shadow front for the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror organization, issued a formal threat targeting Kashmiri Pandit government employees in the Kashmir Valley.

The threat included the specific names and phone numbers of six employees, particularly those within the Revenue Department working under the Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation Package (PMRP). The ULC claimed the ability to track individuals even if they relocated from the Kashmir Valley to Jammu, warning them to ‘change their ways.’

In response, security forces have increased surveillance and strengthened arrangements at migrant colonies across the valley. While reports indicated the Jammu and Kashmir government advised affected departments to allow employees to work from home or take leave until August 25, the Director of School Education, Naseer Ahmad Wani, has denied that any formal orders for remote work or leave were issued. Police are currently investigating the authenticity of the document and how the personal data of the targeted employees was accessed.
