Kast calls for security reform to combat organized crime

President José Antonio Kast called for progress on security reform during the National Mining Society (Sonami) summit. Speaking alongside Mining Minister Daniel Mas, Kast emphasized the need for new legislation to address the evolution of organized crime, describing these groups as “transnational companies” that require a different legal approach.

Kast noted that improving security is essential for the mining sector to reduce costs associated with protecting machinery and transporting products. He stated that while there must be agreement on the specific type of legislation, the shared goal is to “recover security for our country.” Additionally, the President touched upon tax competitiveness and stability for large-scale projects to ensure economic certainty and sustainability.
