Kastamonu Court Seeks 15‑22 Year Prison Terms for Drug Trafficking Defendants

Police from the Kastamonu Provincial Narcotics Division carried out a raid in the city centre, seizing 5,447 synthetic ecstasy‑type pills, 29.83 g of skunk, one ecstasy tablet, a precision balance and numerous sealed bags. Five suspects – B.S., Y.S., Ö.T., H.E. and C.T. – were taken into custody; B.S., Y.S., Ö.T. and H.E. were remanded in prison while C.T. was released under judicial control.

The case was heard at the Kastamonu Heavy Penal Court on charges of "trafficking or supplying narcotic or psycho‑active substances." The public prosecutor asked for prison terms of 15 to 22 years for the four detained defendants. Defense lawyers challenged the request, with one defendant stating, "I used ecstasy for personal use and do not own the other chemicals," and another asserting that their statements had altered the case file. The court ordered continued detention of the four suspects and postponed the hearing at the lawyers' request.
