Kastoria Hospital Saves 4-Year-Old After Pool Drowning Incident
A four‑year‑old child fell into a pool in Kastoria and was rushed to the General Hospital unconscious after a cardiac arrest. Medical staff performed prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubated the boy and stabilised his condition.
Dr Stathis Koulouris, coordinator of the cardiology clinic, said, “We gave the toughest battle, a fight against time.” With the assistance of EKAV and local authorities, the patient was transferred safely to a specialised paediatric intensive‑care unit in Thessaloniki for further treatment. The medical team expressed relief at the child’s survival and hopes for a full recovery.
