Katarina Peović criticizes Interior Minister over protest at her home
Katarina Peović, leader of the Workers' Front, has issued an open letter to Croatian Interior Minister Davor Božinović following a protest held in front of her home. The protest was led by Dražen Keleminec and members of the Autohtona hrvatska stranka prava (A-HSP).
Peović criticized the Ministry of the Interior for its refusal to ban the demonstration, labeling the police response as ‘grotesque’. She argued that the authorities are providing indirect protection to individuals who have previously been convicted of misdemeanors during similar protests. Peović expressed concerns regarding the violation of her family's privacy and safety.
A request to prohibit the gathering was signed by Peović, Zoran Pusić, and 41 other prominent activists, intellectuals, and cultural figures. The police maintained that the protest would not be banned to protect the participants' rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, while stating they would work to ensure the safety of non-participants.
