Katele Kalumba Cyber Crimes Act Zambia harassment charges Hakainde Hichilema

Former Zambian Finance Minister Katele Kalumba has been arrested and charged with harassment under the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025. The Zambia Police Service stated that Kalumba is accused of disseminating electronic content intended to humiliate President Hakainde Hichilema.

The arrest followed reports that Kalumba had been critical of the current administration, including statements regarding election integrity and the detention of political figures. Kalumba was apprehended in Chienge District and has since been released on police bond, with an expected court appearance in the near future.
