Kathmandu gas supply stabilized via Terai rerouting after highway landslide

Following a landslide on the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir, emergency measures have been implemented to stabilize the cooking gas supply in the Kathmandu Valley. The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) reported the successful distribution of over 233,000 LPG cylinders over a five-day period using alternative routes.

To bypass the highway blockage, empty cylinders were rerouted from Kathmandu, Dhading, and Kavrepalanchok to refilling plants across seven districts in the Terai, including Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha, and Mahottari. Industry reports indicate that plants like Sahara Gas Industry are operating around the clock, with some facilities sending upwards of 8,000 cylinders daily to the capital via the Palung road.

In response to the recent natural disasters, employees of Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited, through their independent union, have donated NPR 953,216 to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. The contribution was formally presented to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle to support emergency response and rehabilitation efforts.
