Katılımevim and Birevim face acquisition talks and investigations

The future of savings finance companies Katılımevim and Birevim is undergoing significant changes following developments in the capital markets. Emlak Katılım has entered negotiations to acquire both companies.

Previously, Katılımevim announced negotiations with Pusula Finans Holding for the Tera Group to take over shares in the group's companies. While a commercial agreement on financial terms was reached, the process requires approval from the Capital Markets Board (SPK) and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).

Parallel to these corporate shifts, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched investigations into capital market transactions. This has resulted in the arrest of Muhammed Yarız, Chairman of Pusula Portföy, and travel bans for 48 individuals. Additionally, Serdar Turhan and Ahmet Özcan have resigned from their positions within Pusula Finans Holding.

Hazine ve Maliye Bakanı (Minister of Treasury and Finance) Mehmet Şimşek addressed the situation, stating that necessary actions will be taken to protect the rights of participants, noting that they are not considered professional investors and will receive different treatment. There are indications that a structure similar to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) may be established to manage the process.
