Emlak Katılım Tasarruf Finansman A.Ş., a subsidiary of the state-owned Emlak Katılım Bankası, has officially entered negotiations to acquire two major players in the savings finance sector: Katılımevim Tasarruf Finansman A.Ş. and Birevim Tasarruf Finansman A.Ş.
The move is part of the bank's growth strategy to expand its presence in the alternative financing market, which serves consumers looking for housing and vehicle financing. While the negotiations have been confirmed via the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the acquisition is not yet finalized. Details regarding the purchase price, share ratios, and the final timeline have not been disclosed.
Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek addressed the development, stating that the process is intended to protect the rights of participants within the savings finance sector. He noted that while the sector is growing rapidly, authorities will monitor it closely to ensure consumer protection. Any potential merger or transfer of these companies remains subject to regulatory approval from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) and the Capital Markets Board (SPK).
