Katochori to host religious celebrations for Saint Demetrios

The Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania is organizing a series of multi-day religious events and services in the historic village of Katochori. These celebrations mark the 200th anniversary of the heroic exit of the garrison of the Free Besieged and the upcoming feast day of Saint Demetrios, the patron saint of Katochori.

The program, scheduled for October 22–26, 2026, includes the official reception of the Holy Relics of Saint Nicholas of Metsovo by Metropolitan Damaskinos. The festivities will feature various liturgical services, including Vespers, Divine Liturgy, and a procession of the Holy Relics and the Sacred Icon of Saint Demetrios. A lecture regarding the contribution of holy martyrs to the liberation of the nation is also scheduled as part of the events.
