Saint Demetrios religious celebrations in Greece

Overview

Religious celebrations and liturgical events honoring Saint Demetrios are taking place across various regions in Greece.

In Katochori, the Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania organized festivities to mark the 200th anniversary of the exit of the garrison of the Free Besieged and the feast day of Saint Demetrios. The program included the reception of the Holy Relics of Saint Nicholas of Metsovo and various services, such as Vespers and Divine Liturgy.

Simultaneously, the ‘Dimitria 2026’ celebrations commenced in other areas. In Crete, celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the ‘Dimitria’ institution were held at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios, featuring a Divine Liturgy presided over by Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos.
