Katowice awards contract for new sports complex in Kostuchna

Katowice has selected NDI S. A. to design and construct a new sports and recreation complex in the Kostuchna district. The project, located on the site of the former Boże Dary mine, was awarded for 56.1 million PLN, well within the city's 76.1 million PLN budget.

The facility will include a 6-lane sports pool measuring 25 x 16 meters, alongside a recreational zone featuring a jacuzzi, saunas, water geysers, and an 80-meter slide. Additionally, a sports hall for volleyball, basketball, and badminton will be built.

The project aims for ecological sustainability by utilizing geothermal water from the former mining site for heating and incorporating photovoltaic panels. Once the contract is signed, the contractor will have 32 months to complete the construction. This investment follows high demand for municipal pools, which saw nearly 880,000 entries across existing facilities last year.
